VIDA ARTIFICIAL Y LITERATURA: MITO, LEYENDAS Y CIENCIA EN EL FRANKESTEIN DE MARY SHELLEY
Genara Pulido Tirado
ABSTRACT
Interest in artificial life appears in the classical Greco-Latinos. Here we study this idea taking as a basic point of reference the work of Mary W. Shelley Frankenstein, or the modern Prometheus (1818), which analyses taking into account the context both of literary, mythological, as a scientist or pseudoscientific as of the time. The methodology has a character fundamentally comparative and historical, and the relationships we establish are nature and different areas. In short, Frankenstein is not only the first science fiction novel, but the work showing one of the fatal consequences of the scientific revolution, it is precedent for all works to later dealt with the subject of artificial life, stressing that progress in genetic engineering of our day have intensified, if possible, the interest in this issue. Obviously, currently emphasize the theme and character and well as its complexity.
