RESUMEN: En este artículo se estudian aspectos fundamentales de la narrativa breve de dos autores de notable interés en la literatura española actual. Antonio Muñoz Molina utiliza modelos de reconocida eficacia, como el policiaco, para reflejar las diferentes formas de vida, la otredad, y para expresar su crítica social. Enrique Vila-Matas muestra la relación paradójica que muchas veces se establece entre arte y realidad, entre verdad y ficción, y la imposibilidad de ir más allá de una forma subjetiva de representación.
ABSTRACT: This article is intended to study the short stories of two of the most brilliant writers in Spanish Literature at the end of the Twentieth Century. Antonio Muñoz Molina uses different kinds of literary models, popular genres like detective stories, to reflect contemporary and common life, and otherness, and also to express social criticism. Enrique Vila-Matas shows the paradoxical relationship between art and reality, fiction and truth, and the impossibility of going beyond a subjective form of world representation.
